The supporting cast is also very good with Michelle Ruff doing Rukia. This show is definitely as good in English and Japanese subtitles.

2) Air Gear
Air Gear is one of the funniest shows ever created. The main character Ikki is done by Chris Patton who does a great job of keeping the humor translated over from the original version.

3) Full Metal Alchemist

Brothers Edward and Alphonse, voiced by Aaron Dismuke and Vic Mignogna, do an excellent job in this series. With several hundred episodes available in English, it's a good thing they do such a good job.

Death Note is a Japanese animation series (or anime for short)  written by Tsugumi Ohba. The main themes in this series are 'psychological' and 'supernatural'. Recommended age rating is teenagers and up.

Plot Overview: The story starts with a teenage boy named Light Yagami, sitting in school and obviously bored when he notices a note book outside his class and falling from above. He later picks up the note book out of curiosity and sees the words "Death Note" written on the cover with an odd set of directions inside on how to use this note book to kill with simply a name an face. He takes it as a joke but decides to keep it and give it a try just for the hell of it. To lights amazement the Death Note is real and Yagami Light suddenly has the power to kill anyone he desires with only their name and face.

Light is then visited by the owner of the Death Note, A Shinigami named Ryuk. Ryuk decides to fallow Light around because he's bored of his own world and decides it might be fun if a human possessed the powers of the Death Note. Ryuk fallows Light on his quest to cleanse the world of all evil but never interfearing. 

Light decides to use this power for justice, a no tolerance judgment for all criminals and becomes the the persona "Kira". The governments start taking notice of the odd chain of death with all inmates and hire the famous detective "L" to track down the killer. It soon becomes a battle of wits, traps, ploys and deceptions as both Kira and L seek to learn the others identity. Kira and L are both wrapped in cloaks of mystery while Kira can't kill without a name and L can't arrest without a name.

Personal Opinion: Death Note is really a jewel of an Anime series but the ones who don't like it usually tend to hate. The story is well thought out for the most part. although there are a few episodes when you can't help but feel its going no where fast. The artwork is also above average but the soundtrack isn't anything special. Although it does have a very nice opening videos and music. Speaking of audio, do yourself a favor and watch the original Japanese version with subtitles if it doesn't bother you because the English Dubs on this series is awful. The characters are  rich and believable with their original voices while the English Dub voice actors didn't quit fit and the emotion they acted out didn't seem as believable as the original Japanese voice actors.

All in all, if you're looking for an Anime with a strong story, unexpected twists and and thrills then check out Death Note.

Basilisk not only contains some amazing battles between the Ninjas of the two clans but also strong emotion and a surprising story line. The difference in basilisk is that the fights between the two clans are like a game of chess. 10 pawns each with a different ability that might be useful against one and not useful at all against another. Almost in every episode you get one of the characters to die and you hope that is not your favourite one. Although Basilisk is 24 episodes you will find your self attached with a number of characters.

Basilisk as an anime production is one of the best we have seen. The graphics are so good (as good as Bleach in my humble opinion) and the characters are so beautiful that it was very hard for us to decide which screen captures we would leave behind for every episode summary in our website www.basiliskanime.com [http://www.basiliskanime.com]. We also could not find any major mistakes and no plot holes. The soundtrack is surprisingly good with a great opening song. Voice acting could be better in English but is superb in Japanese. Out of all cartoons in the world, it is only in Japanese anime that I have seen such well rounded and realistic characters that are so distinctly human. Anime does not delude the viewers into thinking that someone can be perfect. The heroes and heroines in anime, beautiful as they may be, have their own flaws and insecurities. They're not like the princesses in the cartoon fairy tales who are epitomes of grace and goodness, and are thereby incredibly flat and drab. Anime heroes and heroines are human, and their humanity makes them all the more interesting.
Also, because they each have their own personalities, we're sure to find at least one character in every show with whom we can relate with and empathize with. And this is one of the biggest reasons why we get hooked in anime versus American cartoons because we're always trying to find out what's going to happen with our favorite characters.
Plots
The plots in anime are just as much reason to get addicted as the characters themselves. Anime Series are almost always gifted with great plots. Dragonball Z

The last few years i have been watching a lot of Hayoa Miyazaki movies like Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro and they are great and remain some of my favourite anime. I just wanted to wright this review on Dragonball Z because after watching just over 100 episodes (from the start) i am totally blown away by how epic and powerful the whole thing is. I needed this kind of thing after watching the gently paced and mega friendly movies above. Dragonball Z has so much going for it. The characters are brilliant and numerous and they are all used perfectly. The villains are super evil, check out frieza in his final form, and the story is unbelievably epic (especially if you have watched all of dragonball, which i recently have). The most noticable element of Dragonball Z, though, are the battles. Now i'm watching the original jap version and i've never seen anything like it, in a good way. I love the way the big battles last 30 episodes and the OTT fighting is genius. I don't know why people slag them of. This is animation! Actors can't do this sort of stuff so why not take advantage. It's so exhilararating. Like in the saiyan saga when Vegeta (a terrific character) is hit by the Ki bomb and sent flying into into oblivion, only to fall back down to earth, completely battered and angered, then launching a massive energy blast in all directions, utterly destroying the surrounding area. Thats just one of my favourite moments so far. Since ive only seen a third of Dragonball Z, im not going to give this a strict rating. Anime fans who have'nt seen it should definetly do so, and people who have'nt seen the jap version should watch it. I've seen a few of the dubbed and cut versions on sky and they don't capture the same intensity of the original. The ending theme of the original is really good, too. Mind you, who am i to talk, i've only just started watching it and i can't wait to continue. Long live Dragonball......

Why the Akira Movie is a Timeless Anime Classic

For the numerous fans who love to watch Japanese animation, many already know that the anime movie Akira directed by Katsuhiro Otomo was the first of its genre not only to reach audiences worldwide, but also go beyond the boundaries of its time. It is visually mind-blowing; I could not say it better than that. There were several moments in Akira that made this such an exceptional film. One of those points being the level of energy a person can possess and the potential of that energy to grow exponentially reaching dangerous heights. As seen in the movie, Akira was a boy who was able to tap into this inconceivable force. This energy which was found in all living creatures was the essence of life itself. But as we come to see in the film, it can be highly unstable. Akira was unable to control this power, which led to the destruction of Tokyo in 1988. Now 30 years later, the energy is re-awakened in Tetsuo. Like Akira, Tetsuo's power grew rapidly reaching critical levels that will cause the destruction of Tokyo again if he is not stopped. The purpose of this article is to focus on three visually epic scenes which demonstrate the devastating power Tetsuo wields and reminds us why this anime is a must see.

In the first scene Takashi, Kiyoko and Masaru challenged Tetsuo by invading his mind, but their failed effort only angered Tetsuo as he grew more vicious. Tetsuo used his psychic powers to find where the aged children were hiding. Shortly after this he broke out of his room and the guards were alerted. Upon their arrival they discovered a disturbed Tetsuo in the hallway. They tried to escort him back to his room but Tetsuo obliterated them leaving only their remains plastered against the walls. This scene was significant in the film because for the first time you saw the devastating potential of Tetsuo's power. A rage developed in that moment when the guards approached and his thoughts became action. He wanted them to go away and they were instantly destroyed. There was no remorse for the lives he took which represented him going over the brink of insanity. Another scene that illustrated Tetsuo's devastating potential was the ascension of the Akira chamber.

Tetsuo's exponential growth in power was witnessed in this scene by his telekinetic abilities. He rampaged through town slaughtering soldiers and anyone in his path until he reached the location of Akira, the mysterious void eating away at his own curiosity. As Tetsuo used his telekinetic abilities, the ground broke away revealing the huge metal fortress. Tetsuo's mind power was astonishing in this scene as he levitated this citadel of incredible size effortlessly. Continuing his destructive path, Kiyoko used Kai as a medium to attack him. They engaged in a psychic battle once more but their powers ricocheted which resulted in the destruction of buildings, bridges, and innocent spectators. In the end, Kai was easily overcome by Tetsuo. The significance of this scene not only showed the viewers a visually epic battle of pure brilliance but also notes the magnitude of Tetsuo's telepathic and telekinetic abilities. The final and most visually epic scene of all is when Tetsuo lost control of his power.

Towards the end of the movie, Tetsuo's power reached critical levels. His girlfriend Kaori and the General tried to help him but his body transformed into a grotesque organism. Anyone or anything caught in its path was consumed by it. His girlfriend Kaori fell victim to this. Tetsuo realized he no longer had control and he cried out to his friend Kaneda for help, but it was too late as this infinite growth of telepathic energy continued to devour all matter around him. Takashi, Kiyoko and Masaru had no choice but to summon the entity of Akira in order to stop Tetsuo. This caused another fatal explosion. Kaneda and the General were transported to safety; they watch from a far as the city of Neo Tokyo was destroyed once more. At the end of the film there was a big bang from outer space and moments later the words "I am Tetsuo," were heard. This represented Tetsuo's ascension into a god like being. This was the best segment of the film because it encompassed not only the themes of death and destruction but rebirth and creation as well.

In conclusion, there are multiple visuals in the Akira movie that make this anime classic a must see. From creation to complete and utter destruction, this movie does not skip a beat. The three scenes discussed in this article capture it all which makes Akira not just an anime, but an experience. Whether you are a veteran to anime or a rookie, Akira is worth watching.
